Overcoming Anxiety and Panic Attacks - Is the Fear Real?

We all have our own fears, and sometimes these fears can lead to anxiety and panic attacks. Once you have experienced one of these attacks you know how powerful they can be. After an anxiety attack has occurred, you are quite often put into a catch twenty-two situation because the initial fear that caused the attack is still there, but along with that comes a new fear of the attack itself. Overcoming anxiety and panic attacks is possible if you take the time to recognize the fear and are given steps to work with it.

The initial fear  

This is what led to the panic attack in the first place.It can be very evident or it can be a complete unknown. If you are not sure what caused your first panic attack, and then you should take the time to isolate the circumstances that were surrounding the situation at the time.   We you having any work related problems? Any problems at home?   Sometimes it takes a bit of investigation to try and find the source. There is always something that triggered the first attack and it usually leads back to some kind of anxiety or fear.  

The secondary fear  

The problem with having an anxiety attack is that it can lead to a very disturbing fear of having more. An attack of anxiety can be one of the most distressing and embarrassing problems. It can leave you feeling almost frozen in time and feeling like death is imminent. Anyone that has never experienced this kind of attack will never be able to truly understand how powerful it can be.   Are you afraid of having another one?   Does this fear effect your life in any way?   Sometimes people are left dealing with both the initial fear that started the panic attacks and the secondary fear of having another. This can be a vicious circle and you can be caught in a cycle of fear that controls your life. Luckily, overcoming anxiety and panic attacks can be done without overly powerful medication. There are treatments available that can gently guide you towards a life without fear.
